Advocacy Group

I would like to start a Mental Health Advocacy Group. It would be open to all those like me who are having a mental health experience. I include in this anyone who feels their mental health experience is currently classified as 'well,' so even if you are not mentally 'unwell,' you can come along. Advocacy is 'public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy,' so everyone is welcome to advocate for mental health in my book. I'm not sure where this will happen yet, and I would like to lead the group and also let the group shape its own destiny so it is co-created and inclusive. As a starter to get us going, here are some ideas of things we could do. We could spend a little time sharing our experiences and building an idea of areas of change in the mental health sector and society as a whole. We could write letters if we feel there is an area of particular need out there. We could organize special days or follow already arranged special mental health days with positive interactions and attendance. We could learn to speak more publicly about our mental health experiences. These are just some ideas, and I feel the best way to conduct a group is to build it using everyone's skills and abilities to our advantage. I'm thinking it could run once a week at a central location. If anyone would want to become involved in something like this, then please get in touch.
