Lived Experience

I am not saying I am a mental health professional, spychiatrist of mental health nurse. I am an individual who has lived experience of a mental health diagnosis and would like to explore our current model of understanding for mental health and potentially create an outline of a more healthy model which allows for more integration, honesty, dignity and respect. I would like to see a world where mental health is viewed as normal (what ever normal is) and is also valued as a part of the ritch tapastry of life. For me lived experience has been something which has felt like it has held me back and also something which has enriched my life with experiences not everybody is able to have. I feel veamently that we should and could get to a position in society where everyones life experience is appreciated, respected and held in high esteem as being benificial to us all as a society. I understand that for many lived experience of a mental health diagnosis gradually errodes other peoples sense of your worth and your own sense of worth and I have experienced both of these issues. I have opted for a form of indignation this simply means a righteous anger at something that is considered unfair, mean or shameful. My worth is not directly related to my mental capacity and neither is yours.
