My Hospitalisation 2

My second hospitalisation was in some senses a joy! I was working as a Prison Officer and had some early warmning signs of Spychosis. I cannot say what triggered it. I was really enjoying work and taking it in my stride no stress or difficulty. So sometimes I think an episode of Spychosis can just happen without cause. I had booked some holiday and over that period the Spychosis became unmanagable. My version of Sphycosis is hearing things and beleive me it can get bloody confusing when this happens. In the end I took myself to the GP and made them call an ambulance so that I could get myself assessed for an admittance to hospital. I was successful in my endevour. I was taken to an Acute Spychiatric ward in Weston Super Mare. A day or two after I admitted myself I was already starting to come out of the confusion of an episode. Of course medication and care are taken out of your hands once sectioned and there is a level of acceptance you have to have around this. I elected to meditate three times a day and do yoga three times a day and treated the whole experience like a Spiritual retreat. I also elected to advocate diligently on my own behalf. I made notes of all dubious practice from Health Care Professionals and spoke up when I was treated like a child by certain staff members. If you are having this experience I urge you to do the same. You may have had your Civil liberties taken away but you are still a human being and entitled to share your opinion about your care politely and with dignity and respect.
